left charred as hutch is set on fire in cruel attack
A woman set fire to her sister's pet rabbit as two children slept upstairs.
Katey Barber downed seven cans of lager and set the
hutch of Bunny alight, leaving the animal burnt and blistered.
Barber, 22, flew into a rage as she burned the clothes of her mother's partner
while the couple were away with her sister Rachel, Bunny's owner, according
to The Sun.
She then started to burn bits of paper, which she threw into the rabbit hatch
in the garden of her mother's house in Cheadle Heath, Lancashire, Stockport
Magistrates' Court heard.
Bunny was said to be squealing in pain as Barber prodded it with a
stick.
As bystanders tried to put a stop to the torture Barber locked the back door
and was heard laughing as pleas for her to give up the keys fell on deaf
ears..

.The rabbit now cowers from human contact, still has scars and may be forced
to have an ear amputated.
Barber eventually doused the fire with water in September 2009..
She pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal..
Sentencing was adjourned until March 23.
