"Medicinal Herbs & Home Remedies " with Judith Wood
What a superb evening was had by all. Informative, colourful and interactive
- we all came away knowing and having experienced so much we didn't know
before. Judith elaborated on those herbs considered 'old fashioned' now such
as comfrey and feverfew but which were still used today for home made remedies
and successful they were too. She also traced some of their origins from
Egyptian roots and their use during medieval times in England.
The wall quiz was good fun and helped everyone to identify what they knew
as well as didn't know (as well as copy from each other as they moved and
mingled around the room!)
Camomile; Feverfew; Sage; Comfrey; Lavendar and Rosemary were the herbs Judith
concentrated on for the evening and an example of each was there (all currently
in our herb tablet at "Burlinson House").
Lee was the winner of the ballot for a "cold cure" tub of herbs.
For supper afterwards, Judith provided us with some infusions of Sage 'tea'
and Camomile 'tea' which most of us found refreshing and different.
We all hand our handouts to take away with us to remind us which herbs could
be used as "tinctures"; "ointments/creams"; "infusions" etc.
A great evening and so much work had been done in preparation by Judith.
So...when's the next one Judith????
