Another frog and some other creatures found in the brick wall today - see the sightings for 16/4/16
Frog found in the new pond today - seemed happy enough!
A picture of the mole is in the SIGHTINGS section.
When visiting the garden today Lee and myself found a dead mole. I've never seen a real mole before. It was about 5" long and had a very soft coat. Small little paws with very long nails for digging on the front two. Poor little thing. No evidence of any violence. We buried it in the soft ground. The grounds are full of tiny mammals. We have found a couple of dead pygmy shrews in the past. Tiny little bodies.
Hi. I hope everyone is watching WinterWatch on BBC. It is really good, but if you have missed it, you can watch it on BBCiplayer. Just put in the details and you can watch it at leisure. You can download it but unfortunately, can't save it. Enjoy the winter season and do what you can for wildlife.
MTVCA won our 'You Choose' bid this year. Jobs outstanding for the winter -close up the apiaries, erect wind turbine at back of house, wallpaper reception room.
Please see the Eco Suparman picture on the NEWS section...a mantis on a bike!!
Was at Burlinson House today at workday. Spotted 14 adult frogs in the pond. No spawn as yet. Glad to see the frogs as there are two significant fungal diseases affecting frogs in UK leading to many deaths.
Just a quick reminder that "Winterwatch" commences tonight on BBC2 at 9pm. Apparently there is a special report on the increase of owls in the UK -don't know which type of owl - will have to watch it to find out. As always, I'm sure it will be brilliant.
Just watched BBC's series on "Smart Animals" which shows the boundary behind animal and human intelligence is very narrow indeed! We're not looking for who is the smartest species. Each species is intelligent in IT'S OWN ENVIRONMENT. You can catch it on iplayer. It's time we as a species respected other species a bit more with whom we share this planet. Riveting stuff.
