Amazing Amphibians 3/2/11

A well filled room welcomed Jane Downall, a member of MTVCA and the new Biodiversity Office for Oldham Borough Council.

Jane gave a brilliant information packed presentation on amphibians showing great photographs of frogs, toads, spawn and newts and spoke of their life cycles and behaviours. She encouraged us all to submit the findings from our own garden and experiences to the various surveys which were being done on the internet to track the numbers, populations and breeding sites of each of the above amphibians so that careful records could be kept. As there was time left before refreshments, Jane went on to show us amazing photographs of her holiday in Africa and the local wildlife there as well as the most recent bird ringing event held in Daisy Nook Country Park. She encouraged us all to try to attend that.

All in all, a very good evening resulting in us gaining another two members for the MTVCA!
