Thursday 15 January
The MTVCA had been extended an invitation by
the
Army to attend the Manchester Sport City Stadium for a special presentation
of their work. Bryan (Chairman), Susan (Secretary), Paul and Lee (both committee
members) accepted the invitation to attend.
We joined approximately 300 others from various groups and organisations
for what turned out to be an impressive evening which all seemed to proceed
without a hitch. The main aim of the evening was to inform the local community
of the work in which the army engages at home and worldwide. Through a video
presentation and personal conversations with various army personnel who
circulated throughout the evening, their objective was met.
Bryan, Paul, Lee and Susan were able to engage with various members of the
army during the course of the evening about the work of MTVCA and it was
very encouraging to meet with one particular Captain who had knowledge of
the great crested newt! We were encouraged to contact the local Territorial
Army group who would probably be able to assist us in helping with necessary
tasks in around 5 Oaken Clough Terrace and woodland garden as part of their
community work.
So, all in all, an enjoyable and profitable evening for us and MTVCA!
